Hello there!

It's been a while since I've written but I'm back after a year of surgeries, physical rehab, and a lot of spiritual growth.

I've had a lot of "down time" lately which gave me plenty of time to think and reflect on my life.

Not to mention, I'm still teaching surgical techs full time and of course running SurgicalTechSuccess.com

I want to talk to about something that you may here a lot about.

It's called Being Your Best!

There are countless books, videos, seminars, and other resources out there that claim to teach you how to be your best.

Some of them are useful and some of them are not so useful.

But whatever resource you turn to, it really amazes me how people tend to settle for where they are only to crave going higher but never really doing anything about it.

Being you best takes work, determination, and a good support system.

As surgical techs, we work in an environment that tends to be stressful and very negative at times.

Whether you're a student or practicing surgical tech, I know for a fact that you've had an issue or two with somebody at school or work.

There's always that other person who gets on your case or on your nerves and you just can't stand it.

But listen to me when I say you cannot let anybody keep you from being your best.

Your first step is to take the environment you're in and look at it as a challenge.

That nurse or surgeon in the O.R. who is always on you about this or that, OR -- the instructor who seems to never lay off, were put in your life for a reason.

They were put there to challenge YOU to go higher.

So often we are surrounded by crows and we tend to forget that we were meant to be the eagles.

Yep, Eagles don't let the crow bother them, rather they just fly a little higher where the crow can't get to them.

Being your best takes work and prayer.

Whether you want to believe it or not, there is a higher power, our God, who has big plans for us.

HE see's you as a winner, a beautiful person, a huge success and HE has big plans for you.

Are you letting somebody else keeping you from being your best?

WHY?

Why would you let a negative influence prevent you from tapping into your God given ability to fly like the eagles.

Being your best takes work on your part!

It's that simple~

The first thing you have to do is believe that you are meant for greatness.

Then you have to live each day as an example of who you are and who you plan to be.

Here's a quick side-story:

Recently, I had a friend who left an operating room to go to another facility and get trained in open hearts.

My friend was a well rounded surgical tech and was offered a position making 30% more money and getting even more "F-r-e-e" training.

And the crazy thing is, when my friend told the co-workers he was working with what his plans were, he started hearing things like; "Oh, you're not going to like it there", "That place stinks", "The surgeons there are....", blah, blah, blah, I think you get my point here.

You see, when you take a step out to be your best, the "na-sayers", the "crow's" come flying in to try to shoot you down.

That's when you have to just lift your wings and fly a little higher towards your dreams.

What's keeping you from being your best?

Think about it!

Are you afraid to take that step for the fear of the unknown?

Are you scared to move into another position because you might fail?

Are you afraid to enroll in that course to increase your education?

If you are, you're flying with the crows.

I would like to challenge you to take a step out of your comfort zone and fly with the eagles.

If you're not happy with your current situation, change it.

Take a look around you and I know you can find plenty of people who are not happy doing what they are doing, yet they won't take a single step to move anywhere else.

Those are the "crow's" in your life.

They might not even realize they are the crows and they have the same potential as you but choose to do nothing with it.

Be an eagle and believe that your life has a purpose full of big plans.

Trust me, I speak from personal experience and I've learned the hard way.

You must take that step of faith if you want to fly with the Eagles.

Will you do it?

Take a step forward and trust that you are meant for greatness.

You only have one life, don't spend it flying with the crows....

Get out there and Be Your Best!!!

Stay positive, ask questions, study hard, keep learning, and pray. That's the solid foundation to build from and work your way into becoming the best you can be.

Until Next Time~

Your friend,

Robert Prince, CST

Gossip --

Gossip is something we all hear in and around the operating room or on campus.

Take my advice and don't feed into the gossip.

Take the high road and turn a deaf ear to the individuals who take pride by talking about others.

It's hurtful & unnecessary!

We ALL have our issues, and talking about others only reflects poorly on you as a person and a professional.

Like my dear old mom used to say, if you don't have something nice to say, zip it!
