Job & Career Facts!

"People vs. Job" & Your Career Success Plan

If you are just beginning your job search or even if you are currently working & find yourself looking for a career change or career boost, this newsletter is a MUST READ!

Even if you plan to simply scan this employment success newsletter, make sure you really read & apply steps 9, 10, & the Bonus success step at the end of this page.

Some of the biggest topics EVERYONE is talking about today is all about looking for jobs, finding a career, and keeping a job or making a career change.

And we all know how tough the whole job market is these days.

But as hard as it is, we all need to eat, so we all need to produce an income via working, and YOU cannot get discouraged or give up!

Now, that being said, if you look at your current situation as a sea of trouble, let me challenge you to reframe your thoughts and look at your current situation as a sea of opportunity.

You see, if you dwell on what you don't have, you're going to get more of it....

One thing I can tell you for sure, if you want to have what other people don't, then you MUST be willing to do what other people are not willing to do.

I can also tell you for a fact that, in general,
society creates lazy people!

AND you should be happy to know that people are generally lazy because you'll have less competition in the job market.

You see, lazy people would rather sit at home and cry & complain about not having a job rather than actually get up, take action, and make a difference in their lives.

Lazy, unhappy people apply for a job or career change every now and then but eventually get side tracked by their latest video game or TV show or email or everything else we have in our "micro-quick & easy - disruptive" society.

Since you're reading this newsletter, chances are you are not one of those lazy people.

WELL then,
--> Let me challenge you to STEP UP!

You have everything you need right this very second to be super successful and I'm going to give you the ABSOLUTE TOP of the top success steps to finding a job, moving up the career ladder, and producing the type of income you desire.

As a matter of fact, we both know that
YOU have what it takes BECAUSE,

YOU ARE NOT LIKE MOST PEOPLE!!!

Well, in one regard, I want to motivate & inspire you to really step up and follow through while avoiding the trap "most people" fall into.

If you will simply take the time to actually read this entire page through, and then go back and work the steps, I promise you that you'll be leaps & bounds ahead of "most people"

Once again, if you plan to simply scan this employment success newsletter, make sure you really read & apply steps 9, 10, & the Bonus success step at the end of this page.

Here are the top 10 job securing & career building success steps you need to follow in order to gain employment:

Top 10 Job Success Steps

Read through the 10 success steps first, and then
come back & follow each detailed job success step accordingly

_____________-------_

1) Organize your Employment Info
Create a FOLDER on your desktop and title it Employment Info

To create a desktop folder, go to your desktop, right click the mouse and you'll see "NEW", highlight New, click on folder, and name it Employment Info.

By creating a folder on your desktop, you have just started to organize your employment information.

Now we are going to put some data/files about you and the required statistics "they" will ask you to provide during the application process.

Getting through the application process can be EXTREMELY TIME CONSUMING if you do not have the following info prepared.

The more prepared you are, the quicker the application process AND the more time you have for more job submissions, the more time you have for more job submissions -- the more jobs you can submit to, the more jobs you can submit to, the better your odds are for gaining employment.

2) Create your Career Profile
Open up a blank word document and save it into
your Employment Folder as:
 My Career Profile

Once you open up a word document, go to the file button on your toolbar, click "save as" and then name the file: My Career Profile.

Make sure you save the file in the Employment Info folder you created on your desktop.

As you complete each section below, hit "Save" on the document just in case the computer crashes, goes down, shuts off or anything else.

This way you wont have to go back and redo the entire document if something does happen while you're working on your career profile.

3) Prepare your Residence History

On the "my career profile" document you just created, your first section will be the places you've lived or residence history.

Most applications will request that you list your home address for anywhere from the last 1 - 5 (or more) years.

Sometimes, the employment application will ask how long you've lived at your current residence.

If it is less than a year or two, the application will ask for additional addresses.

Make a list now of your previous addresses and how long you lived at each of those addresses

Now, hit save on your document.

_____________-------_

4) Prepare your Work History

On the "my career profile" document you just created, your next section will be: Current - Prior Employers or work history.

Create a list of your employers starting from your current employer and go back up to 10 years.

If you only have a year of employment history, then put whatever you have into this section.

You will need info such as your former employers name, address, phone number, supervisors name, your salary, time on job, position, job description or responsibilities, & reason for leaving

When you start filling out online applications, you'll come to a part of the application that will request your employment history, AND they will ask for most of, if not all of the info I just described.

I do not suggest that you put something like "refer to resume" or "resume attached".

Most applications require this info in order to submit your application AND most employers will disqualify you if you can't take the time out to fill out the application accurately & completely.

Now, hit save on the document.

_____________-------_

5) Prepare your Educational Background

On the "my career profile" document you are working on, your next section will be:  Education

List your educational accomplishments.

Include details about grade school, middle school, high school, surgical tech school/training, and college or university info.

List your diplomas, certificates, degrees, etc.

You'll want to at least know the city, state, and years you attended each educational institute.

The more details you have about each educational institute, the better.

Now, hit save on the document

_____________-------_

6) Prepare any type of
Military or Additional Training

On the "my career profile" document you are working on, your next section will be: Military or Additional Training.

List any type of military background to include length of service, branch of military, type of discharge, awards, recognition, etc.

Very often there is a separate part of the application that allows you to provide military experience or information about additional training.

Again, list as many details as possible, including where you served, names of the bases, addresses, etc.

Now, hit save on the document

_____________-------_

7) Prepare a list of References

On the "my career profile" document you are working on, your next section  will be:  References

Make a list of professional & personal references.

List the full name of each reference

List the address & contact number & email if available

List how long you've known each reference

List your relationship to each reference, professional, personal, supervisor, co-worker, etc.

List the position your reference currently holds.

Most applications will ask for 3 - 5 specific references

Specific references include either all professional or a combination of professional & personal references

If you are not sure about adding somebody to your list, simply ask them.

If you're worried about the type of reference a previous employer might give you, contact them and ask them if its ok to list them as a reference

You'd be surprised how most employers are more than happy to give you a good reference

Even if you didn't get along great with your direct boss, or immediate supervisor, there is very often somebody at your prior job that will give you a good reference.

List them specifically~

Don't be afraid to ask for a reference.

Now, hit save on the document

8) Prepare "Other Info"

On the "my career profile" document you are working on, your next section  will be:  Other Information

This info will include your Certification or License or Registration number, your CPR card info, any associations or organization or assemblies you may be a member of AND the expiration dates of the this "other info".

This "other info" may also include your personal interests & activities.

It is not uncommon for an application to have an area that allows you to put in your interests & activities.

Now, hit save on the document
